Media Release from Air New Zealand
December 19th 2024
As the beautiful Kiwi summer arrives, New Zealanders’ travel plans are taking off, with Air New Zealand experiencing strong demand for flights to Whangārei and Kerikeri.
Air New Zealand General Manager of Airports Kate Boyer says the airline is gearing up to welcome 43,000 customers flying to and from the Northland region over the summer holiday period.
“Visitors can immerse themselves in the region’s natural beauty and vibrant local culture. In Whangārei, highlights include the Tūtūkākā Coast, known for diving and snorkelling, and Hundertwasser Art Centre in the Town Basin Marina. Further north, enjoy the Whangārei Falls and coastal walks.
“In Kerikeri, cool off near Rainbow Falls, or relax on the golden sands of Matauri Bay, a local favourite with stunning ocean views. The region comes alive with summer markets, art and music festivals, making it the perfect getaway for all ages.”
Boyer adds: "Connecting friends and whānau is at the heart of what we do. Our team is dedicated to ensuring every customer’s journey is as smooth and enjoyable as possible.
“During this busy travel season, we recommend allowing extra time at the airport, especially if you’re travelling with pets, oversized bags, or require special assistance.
“From all of us at Air New Zealand, we wish you a safe, joyful and relaxing holiday season.”
Air New Zealand is expecting to fly around 1.8 million customers domestically in December and January.
