Information for Bay of Islands Airport users

Now that New Zealand has moved to Alert Level 2, we are excited to see domestic flights resume from Monday 18th May and Kiwis able to travel safely around New Zealand again.

When the terminal re-opens to the public at that time, it will look a little different to what you might be used to:

Only passengers may enter the terminal at this stage. This means that tracing can be carried out by the passenger ticketing system.

Areas have been marked out to ensure we maintain physical distancing – this will also be communicated through banners, floor markers and PA announcements.   We would love everyone to help us out with this by taking personal responsibility for physical distancing – this keeps us all safe.  (Please note: distancing within the terminal is 1 metre due to the tracing from passengers tickets.  Appropriate signage will help guide you.) Remember this is a minimum though. 2 metres is preferred if you can.

Hand sanitiser dispensers are available around the terminal – please use them as often as you need.

We’ve rearranged the furniture to help with social distancing. Bear in mind though, there may well be family groups who don’t require that level of distancing, so don’t be alarmed if you observe this.

We have removed trolleys at this stage.

Our already robust cleaning and sanitising processes have been stepped up – particularly around high touch areas such as check-in counters, handrails, door handles etc.  Of course, it is important you take care of your own personal hygiene as well, so please:

  • Wash your hands well
  • Sanitise often
  • Avoid touching your face
  • Cough/sneeze into your elbow
  • Practice physical distancing

If you are being tested for COVID-19 or you need to self-isolate, please do not visit our terminal.  Enjoy travelling around New Zealand, but make sure you follow all the standard personal health measures and keep a record of where you have visited and who you’ve been in contact with – just in case!

Our Café will be open for the flights.

Our car parking facility will operate as normal, and as a high touch area, we will ensure it is regularly cleaned and sanitised throughout the day.  For information about parking at Bay of Islands Airport, see our Parking page.  Please use the payWave option where possible.
