The airport has a 1,190m x 30m sealed main runway and two grass runways - one parallel runway of 685m and a 461m cross runway. Runway elevation is 150m above sea level. Navigation aids include NDB and DME and the sealed runway has a PAL facility.
The airport has C3 classification. The main runway has a Pavement Classification Number (PCN) of 15 which allows unrestricted access for aircraft of up to 22,500kg maximum certified take off weight (MCTOW) access to the airport.
The airport has Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) Place of First Arrival clearance status for international aircraft of 12 or fewer passengers/crew. New Zealand Customs clearance services are also provided for international flights by arrangement. It is a CAA Certified Airfield - classification 3C and can accommodate aircraft with a a wingspan of 24 metres to 36 metres.

The airport has a 1,405m sealed runway and a gravel cross runway of 1,277m at an elevation of 250m above sea level. Navigation aids include a PAL landing system. Aircraft typically using the airport include Beechcraft, BAe Jetstream, BN Islander and Cessna types.
The runway has a Pavement Classification Number (PCN) of 15 which allows aircraft of up to 22,500kg MCTOW access to the airport.
Kaitaia Airport is currently uncertified under CAA regulations as it does not regularly receive aircraft with more than 30 seats.

Kaikohe Airport

The airport has two grass runways; a 1,500m runway and an 840m cross runway at an elevation of 530m above sea level. This is reputed to be the longest grass runway in New Zealand.
Glider flights and glider training are available from the Kaikohe Gliding Club, located at the airport. Information, phone 0800 GLIDING.
Location
Kaikohe Airport is located five kilometres south of Kaikohe. Coming from Kaikohe, take Mangakahia Road and turn right into Aerodrome Road.

Notes:
"MCTOW" is the Maximum Certified Take-off Weight of the aircraft concerned
No charge for parking up to 6 hours from time of landing.
These parking charges are for each 24hr period or part period exceeding 6 hours from time of landing.
24 hour Security can be provided at the operators request at an hourly rate.
A discount of 12.5% applies when landing fees are paid in cash placed in the landing fees box adjacent to the outdoor toilets.
There is special dispensation from the payment of standard landing fees for all residential recreational aircraft - with a low cost flat annual fee being payable by local residents.
